A: My son has a very rare abdominal sarcoma with very few treatment options. Vioxx was actually one of the drugs being used by patients with his disease with some amount of success. It's withdrawal as an option for these patients was devastating. Only one patient whose mother is an oncology nurse was able to gather enough Vioxx to continue treating her son. He is cancer free . . not necessarily totally from taking Vioxx . . but it does seem to have kept the sarcoma from developing. At the moment we have about four patients using Celebrex as a 'maintenance drug ' . . and so far, so good . .they are doing well.
I wish people who did not understand because they don't have cancer or a child with cancer . . or they have political agendas or motivation would stay out of all this.
We feel that vioxx should remain an option for those who have few options to begin with.

I've had RA for 2 years now, and for over the past 6 months I've been having serious lung problems to the point I was hospitalized once. I was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, but I think my lung specialist isn't totally sure. They took me off methatraxate and embrel.

A: It doesn't sound drug related. Caffeine and any number of other things will leech calcium from your bones, but it shouldn't hit you at 22. It sounds like repeated exposure to hydrofluoric acid more than anything else. I'm not aware of any drugs that are suspected to cause rheumatoid arthritis.
Realistically, the only way for any illegal drugs to damage you like this is if they make you neglect your health. But if you want more insight, it would help if you list the drugs you've taken and any other problems associated with them.

Acupuncture is also thought to decrease pain by increasing the release of chemicals that block pain, called endorphins. Many acu-points are near nerves. A: I am doing a Master´s Degree in Chinese Medicine and we have a lot of patients in clinic with your problems. They are all sick of the pills and try acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. Some of them really show amazing results from not being able to walk because the pain is so strong to walking out of the clinic by themselves.
We can also not cure this disease totally but at least we can keep our patients pain free for a good while and maintain a big part of their normal life.

A: Salmon Oil! It is an excellent anti-inflamitory, and I have personally seen it work amazingly for arthridic dogs. I use Grizzly Salmon Oil, and depending on weight, you just put a few pumps right onto their food, my dogs love it! Also, adding a NATURAL source of glucosamine and chondroitin will help as well. If you use a source that is made from cartilage (ie- chicken or bovine) their bodies absorb ALOT more than the hci. and sulfate forms. This will help rehydrate her joints and regenerate joint tissue. ADDED: The only over the counter pain med you should use is called Ascriptin. It is enteric-coated asprin, so it prevents ulcerations of the stomache. tey the natural route first. Remadyll is a last resort.

FDA: Cancer Warnings Required for TNF Blockers
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is requiring stronger warnings in the prescribing information for a class of drugs known as TNF blockers. The warnings, which include an updated boxed warning, highlight the increased risk of cancer in children and adolescents who receive these drugs to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, the inflammatory bowel disorder, Crohn’s disease, and other inflammatory diseases.
In addition, the FDA is working with manufacturers to explore new ways to further define the risk of cancer in children and adolescents who use these drugs.
TNF blockers target and neutralize tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a protein that, when overproduced in the body due to chronic inflammatory diseases, can cause inflammation and damage to bones, cartilage and tissue. The drugs in this class include Remicade (infliximab), Enbrel (etancercept), Humira (adalimumab), Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) and Simponi (golimumab).
Today’s action is based on the completion of an investigation first announced by the FDA in June 2008. An analysis of U.S. reports of cancer in children and adolescents treated with TNF-blockers showed an increased risk of cancer, occurring after 30 months of treatment on average. About half of the cancers were lymphomas, a type of cancer involving cells of the immune system. Some of the reported cancers were fatal.
Additional required updates to the prescribing information include incorporation of reports of psoriasis associated with the use of TNF blockers.

A: I have personal experience with both a cat and a dog improving greatly on Glucosamine.
Because I worked in the dietary supplements field I knew which were the better brands. One of them, BioChem has a good product in capsules. Capsules are great because you can easily open them and divide doses. In this case, the caps are 500 mg each, so you would need to divide for a cat.
Off the top of my head I do not remember the cat's dosage, but for the first month or so we doubled it up. Refer to the poster who provided dose. About that time the cat had begun to improve so we reduced by half to the standard cat dose.
I totally recommend you try it. Bear in mind it does not work overnight. You may need to wait a month or more to see improvement.
