Q: vigamox???
can i use vigamox to ease my itchy eyes due to pollen allergies? i have an eye doc appt for next week to get my allergy eye drops.but for now i need something.

A: Vigamox is for bacterial infections of the eye - antibiotic. Do not wear contact lenses while you are being treated with moxifloxacin eye solution (Vigamox™). If your eyes are more sensitive to light, wear sunglasses. I would call the pharmacist if you choose to use these drops and ask them if they would relieve your symptoms - otherwise I would get an over-the-counter allergy eye drop such as (Bausch & Lomb) OPCON A ALLERGY RELIEF EYE DROPS. Helps relieve minor eye symptoms of itching and redness caused by pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander. Combines an antihistamine with a decongestant for the relief of itchy, red eyes

Q: My cat has an eye infection. Can I use Vigamox(human anti-bacterial eye drop) on a cat?
Just wondering if there's anything harmful in it for a cat

A: You need to find out what is causing the eye infection first. It could be viral, bacterial, fungal, it could be also an ulcer or many other things. Treating the cat's eye without seeing vet first could cause further problems leading to larger vet bills in the future. So I would not recommend it. Plus an eye infection could be a manifestion of a larger problem such as a upper respiratory infections that would need more treatments then antibiotics in the eye.

Q: My 6 year old had pink eye and was put on Vigamox. Now my 18 month old has come down with it.?
Can I give my 18 month old the prescription my 6 year old was on? It is a very expensive eye drop, and would hate to go to the doctor again, just to have them prescribe me the same medication.

A: I would just call the doctor and ask if it was safe. Most doctors will tell you to go ahead, but may have you give a different dosage. They know that pink eye is very contagious. You cannot even have a child return to school or daycare till 24 hours after the start of medication. They most likely will tell you to use the same medication and treat it the same way to save you a trip in especially this time of year with the flus going around.

Q: is vigamox safe to use on cats?
is vigamox (pink eye drops) safe to use on a cat's eye?

A: You should NEVER use any human medication on ANY animal without consulting with a vet first. A simple medication can kill or seriously harm a domestic pet. An eye drop can cause major other problems in a cat that has a possible ulcerated cornea or infection. Let a vet check out the cats eye and if need be get cat medication.

Q: Im currently taking Vigamox for Pink Eye and I was wondering if you can take an OTC eyedrop for the redness?

A: The redness should disappear as the infection clears (1-2 days). I would not use any OTCs --they have a blood vessel constrictor drug in them and that could hamper healing; you also do not want to wash out the antibiotic. Further you do not want to mask any worsening infection in the eye--a signal you would need your medication changed.

Q: Will VIGAMOX (perscribe for an eye infection) effect my birth control pill?
I don't think it will, but I was just making sure to be on the safe side.

A: Vigamox (or moxifloxacin) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. These usually aren't associated with affecting birth control. Also, only a very very small amount is absorbed systemically; most of the drug will be absorbed through the cornea or drained through the lacrimal system into your digestive system. If I were you, I'd call my pharmacist just to make sure!

Q: Does vigamox drops have an experation time or shelf time ?

A: Yes, they are on the bottom of the box if you have it or you can look on the label on the back of the bottle, where the seam overlaps, it has the lot number and the expiration date under it it would read 2008/03 for example.

Q: can i use vigamox if it's expired by like 6 months?
i had an ulcer in my eye back in the winter, and i still have the 2 bottles the dr gave me. i don't have money to go to the doctors again, and i just noticed another ulcer in my eye today. it's very sore and red, and i put 2 drops in my eye. is this okay?

A: you should be ok, but vigamox is very expensive so i would have used it too.

Q: can i use vigamox medicine for pink eye on my dog?

A: no you need the eye to be properly diagnosed by a vet, and proper medication prescribed. Dont attempt to treat eye issues at home.. you may cause more harm than good.. which can be more costly to treat later, or may even lead to permanant damage.

Q: Does Vigamox need to be refrigerated?

A: It should say so on the bottle if it does, otherwise, no.

Q: Is it okay to switch from one eye drop antibiotic to another?
I was taking tobramycin opthalmic, and now my doctor has prescribed vigamox. Can I just switch right over, or do I need to wait?

A: Generally speaking the eye washes off eye drops within two minutes. After the previous drops have been washed off you can start the new eye drops.

Q: which is a better eyedrop for a child that has cataracts? Vigamox?
22 month old child

A: you know the eyes are nothing to mess with....I mean with an baby that young why in Gods name dont you ask your doctor? we aren't doctors!

Q: Has anyone been prescribed Vigamox while pregnant?
Alright so I asked this question earlier but didnt get to many responses so here it goes again......... my husband went to the doctors yesterday and was told he had pink eye well today I woke up and my eyes were all itchy and red and driving me nuts so without thinking I used his eye drops which are vigamox and say consult doctor before taking if pregnant. Yeah I know that I did a stupid thing but I just wasnt thinking at the time. Anyone ever been prescribed Vigamox while pregnant and anyone know if its alright that I just took it once. I am 29 weeks pregnant and I go to the doctors tomorrow so I will ask him about it but I am just freaking out about it. I only took it once which was three drops in each eye. Thank you in advance and serious answers only please!!

A: The fact that you only used it once makes it okay. Think how many have one drink before they find out they are pregnant or one cigarette, etc. You'll be fine just make sure you tell your doctor and I'm sure they can find something that will be safer for you to take for your pink eye. Best of luck and congratulations you are getting close!! :)

Q: I used vigamox for an ulcer in my eye. I have a stye on both eyes now, can I use vigamox to treat styes?
I was prescribed Vigamox at the beginning of 2006 for an ulcer in my eye. I have very sore itchy eyes and I just got over a stye on one eye less than a month ago and now both eyes are very tender, sore and itchy. Is it safe to use the vigamox for the styes as well? First off, this stuff is expensive, even with insurance and I don't have a prescription or refill. Secondly it doesn't expire until 3/2008.

A: Your Vigamox is almost two years old. Antibiotics can potentially do odd things as they decompose; if you want to use that kind of antibiotic, there's no reason it would harm you, but you need to get FRESH medication.

Q: Should I instill the second dosage of eye drops?
The medication says to instill 2 eye drops a day for 10 days. I did the first one at 6pm, cause thats the time I got them. Should I do the second dosage today, right now, at 10pm. Or wait till tomorrow to start the actual schedule? They are Vigamox antibiotic eye drops by the way.

A: 2 drops once daily for 10days, you've already taken it today at 6pm. No, start tomorrow on a daily schedule as directed once a day.
