Q: How long does it take before Accupril begins to lower blood pressure?
I began taking it a few days ago and I am still testing in the pre-hypertension range. Thanks!
A: Esmerelda,
My accupril was added to a diuretic for blood pressure that wasn't enough. By my next doctor's visit a month later, I was already in the range where I needed to be.
Q: does the medicine bystolic and accupril mess me up or make me feel drugged up?
new blood pressure medicine. when i take it is it gonna make me loopy or will i feel normal? will i have weird side effects right away?
A: There's no way to predict if a particular patient will react to a given medicine.
They shouldn't cause you any problems. Can they? Yes. Will they, who knows.
If they DO cause you problems, call your doctor.
Q: What is the clinical classification, generic name, and dosing of Accupril?
10 points best answer
A: Accupril is Quinapril hydrochloride comes in 5/10/20mg
Accupril is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It can be taken alone or in combination with a thiazide type of water pill such as HydroDIURIL. Accupril is in a family of drugs known as "ACE inhibitors." It works by preventing a chemical in your blood called angiotensin I from converting into a more potent form that increases salt and water retention in your body. Accupril also enhances blood flow throughout your blood vessels. Along with other drugs, Accupril is also prescribed in the treatment of congestive heart failure.

Q: Can the hypertension drug Mavik (4 mg) be replaced with Accupril (40 mg)?
The Mavik is 4mg and that's what was originally took. Now Accupril is supposedly related to Mavik and it's 40 mg. Is it safe to take the accupril?
A: Mavik or ACE inhibitor perindopril (2 or 4 mg) is this:
http://chealth.canoe.ca/drug_info_details.asp?channel_id=0&relation_id=0&brand_name_id=4682&page_no=2
Accupril is only related, as an ACE inhibitor also = they do the same thing, but aren't chemically the same thing. Most precautions overlap, or side effects are similar, but specific in certain areas that may apply to you, and hopefully your doctor knows this about you.
Now you are taking this: Perindopril from:
www.pfizer.ca/english/our%20products/prescription%20pharmaceuticals/default.asp?s=1&id=1&doc=enmonograph
Though they would appear to be the same to me, 40 mg. seems to be a large dose. But they match, in relative strength and side effects, since your Mavik was the larger dose.
Taking Accupril at same-strength right away would not be logical to me however, since they are different substances and you should be introduced gradually, and work up to it.
If you are dizzy, call your doctor. For the same info as in your question, ask a pharmacist.
Personally, I don't feel it's right at this time, but can not advise you. If YOU feel the same physically, then there likely is no problem.
Q: Has anyone had any experience of side effects of accupril, lipitor or somac when taken over a long period?
A: Somac used to give me weird chest pains, like a sharp pain in the sternum.
Q: medicine accupril 40 mg , need the name of a lawyer in san antonio, texas working on a lawsuit?
A: travel down to san antonio and go to all the law offices. only other option is google it
Q: medicine accupril need lawyer?

A: i would check out http://www.badproducts.com . I used them before for a bextra class action two years ago and they helped me out. the case evaluation form is free. good luck!
Q: blood pressure is usually 131/81 average: take accupril for hypertension 20mg. when anxious it is higher.?
anxiety when taking pressure..so I take deep breaths
A: Your blood pressure is a little more than what is considered optimal but not that far off.
Your blood pressure is considered going into mild pre-hyptertension.
And blood pressure can go up when you are anxious -
A lot of people's pressure goes up when they go to the doc - called 'white coat' hypertension.
The docs usually take this into consideration.
Taking deep breaths for a minute or two can help - breathing in slowly and out slowly for a minute or two.
Don't worry - it sounds as if you are o.k.
Q: I recently have been noticing a Low diastolic blood pressure, I am 32?
I am a 31 year old male. In excellent shape, 170 lbs 5'11 - I have unexplained hypertention. I have been on 40mgs of accupril for most of 9 years. I recently went to a cardiologist for an annual check up and received a echo and stress test, check for LVH and other cardiac issues. All results were normal. My blood pressure usually reads 125/80 w/ medication but recently I have been seeing lower diastolic pressures 125/65. My doctor added a diuretic to my treatment last year and I have stoped weight lifting which my cardiologist suggested might not be good for a hypertensive. Since then I have been running on average 8- 10 miles a week. Like i said my last cardio echo was perfect,.....could all this cardio and running be lowering my diastolic? If not what could it be if my echo's are clean ?
A: diuretics lower blood pressure.
if all tests checked out fine, I wouldn't worry too much, unless of course it continues to decline to dangerous lows.
65 diastolic is not bad..
Q: i have spots, like after you have a flash photo taken, in front of my eyes almost all the time.?
i thought it was one of the meds i am taking so i tried not taking each one for a few days to see if that changed anything, when i got to the accupril - for high blood pressure- the spots have eased up quite a bit but they are not completely gone, either. it give me a very 'surreal', for lack of a better word, feeling, especially when i have to walk, even worse outside! the light outside can make me feel a little nauseated and dizzy. i have also been taking glimepiride for my blood sugar, which is a new med for my blood sugar, i have been on metformin for a while so i don't think it is that, however i was wondering if it could be drug interaction. ideas, hints, clues,experiences....anything that might help would be appreciated, thanks! i also take lipitor, for high cholestrol, altho the b.p. med and the lipitor are more for m blood sugar than anythingelse, dr. says.
A: What you're describing sounds more like scotoma to me, than the "floaties" that the other answerer is talking about. But, it is not possible to answer this question more specifically without more information. What is needed mostly is a proper eye exam and neurologic exam. This could be nothing more than a side effect/interaction, but it could also be the first signs of something more serious, such as multiple sclerosis or even transient ischemic attacks (mini-strokes). I don't mean to scare you, but this is not something that can be evaluated over the internet. You should go to see your physician.

A: That's a hell of a list. Honestly the only way you're going to get them memorized is either to give them regularly (if you're a nurse) or to write them all down. Write down what they are for, dosages, side effects, etc. Literally doing it helps you get them down. You already have many of them separated by their effects which is good and is a starting point.
Q: Do you see any issues with this? And, could these conditions be preventing us from having a good marriage?
My wife is on Effexor for anxiety/depression. She also takes Synthroid for an under-active Thyroid and she is on Accupril for high blood pressure medication.
Her Height is 5 ' 7
Her Weight (approx) is about 230 lbs
______________________________
As for me, I'm on Lexapro for anxiety/depression. I also take Ziac for high blood pressure.
My Height is 6 ' 0
My Weight (approx) is about 228 lbs
Besides just a good marriage. We get along, but we are not sleeping together, nor are we having sexual relations. We been married 14yrs and were 36/37 with two kids
A: Your height and weight do not matter in the marriage necessarily, and neither does hers.
Fact is, you're both on depression/anxiety medicine and you keep talking about a lack of sex life. I agree with some previous responders.... work on being happy with yourself. She needs to do the same. Once you both master your self-happiness and comfort (and your health has everything to do with your SELF-happiness and well-being), then you can work together on being happy together.
Q: Would you ditch your doctors, who are also old friends?
I was seen by my girlfriends doctor (cardiologist) today. My bp was 205/123, and doc freaked. The staff refused to let me out the door until I'd had a dose of nitro, a nitro patch, and a double dose of accupril. When I left my bp was down to 160/101. He also made sure I left with a holter on, and a return appointment for next week. Even though I really like my doctors, this guy appears to be much more serious about my health issues. Considering that my last appointment to get my prescriptions renewed was 2 weeks ago, I think it's time for a change. Your opinions?
A: I think you should see whatever doctor takes your care more seriously. If you think your old doctors might have been letting things slide, then switching doctors is the best choice. Your health is far more important than protecting someone's feelings.
