Q: Can I donate my dogs medication?
Today I had to put 2 of my dogs to sleep. One had severe arthritis and the other had diabetes and heart problems. Payton had the diabetes and heart problems and was on Vetmedin, Sotalol, Furosemide, Mexiletine and Enalapril. I would like to give them to someone who also uses them and has a prescription to prove it rather than giving them to the vet who may resell them.
A: I believe the vet is prohibited by law from reselling the meds. But the vet might be able to refer you to someone within his/her practice that could use them.
You might contact your local humane society and ask if they could use them or recommend a group that specializes in foster care for ill dogs.
I am so sorry for your double loss. I know it is hard to loose a dear friend, and loosing two at once must be more than double the pain!
But they have crossed the Rainbow Bridge together and are no longer in pain. The last of ten commandments for dog owners.
Q: looking for quantity of powder that small size gel caps will hold, 1-5, need to 1/3 a capsule for a dog. 150mg
Need to give a dog 50 mg of 150 mg capsule of mexiletine and have 1/3 the dose. It is very bitter and "numbing". Need to find right size gelcaps at best price to divide the powder into. Does anyone know what size capsule the mexilitine 150 mg is?
A: The health food store has empty gel caps.
