Q: What are the side effects of taking perphenazine?
Is this for treating depression?
What will it do to the eyes?
What effects does it have on pregnant women, her fetus and those trying to conceive?
A: Perphenazine is a very strong antipsychotic, usually prescribed for schizophrenia. It is sometimes used for depression, especially in conjunction with Prozac. It can cause blurred vision, but it won't hurt your eyes. It should NEVER be taking by pregnant women or women trying to conceive. Personally, I think another antidepressant, such as Paxil would be much safer. Perphenazine has many, many side effects.
Q: Where can i buy the medicine Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride tablets and Perphenazine Tablets?
is it the same from all over the world?cause i took this medicine from my country. Now I am in the USA.where can i buy the same medicine?it is better not go back to my country.Cause it is not convenient and too expensive.
A: I believe that you need to have a prescription for both of these to get them in the US.
If you visit a doctor, and you let him/her know the medications you were on, and the dosing, and the condition(s) they were prescribed for, he/she should be able to help.
Q: can perphenazine amitriptyline get you high?
dont tell me not to do it, chances are i wont but i just wanna know how many i would have to take and what would happen, they are 330 or whatever
A: Amitriptyline is actually deadly. High, no. Dead, yes. Besides, it is an anticholinergic. It's not the kind of thing you would want to abuse. Unless you like weird heart rhythms, constipation, and anxiety.
So to answer the question of how many, I don't know. If you want to get high, go smoke some weed. Taking amitryptyline in higher than recommended doses can EASILY be fatal.
Q: i take perphenazine in two seperate times can i take them two at once?
A: No-- Take them as perscribed by your physician or call to find out!!!
Q: the drug seroquel,cymbalta,perphenazine?
tell me
the maximum i can take of these drugs together without putting yourself into a drug induced haze or accedently killing one self. I know what they do seprately because what the pharmacist gives u. I know what the dr. says its going to do for u. Now I would like to have some input from someone that possibly knows by taking them tother or knowing alot about drugs, etc. ALL INPUT WILL BE READ.
A: I have used Cymbalta and Seroquel, but they were never prescribed together for me. As Gabe stated, Seroquel is designed as a sedative. It will have different effects for different people though. For me personally, it was used to bring me "down" to a more "normal" state because I was very anxious. I did not suffer any ill effects from it, but thats not to say you wont. Seriously, leave the dosage to the Dr. The Dr. bases his dosage on many factors regarding you. He will start small and work his way up. They will keep increasing the dose until your symptoms go away OR you complain of adverse side effects from the higher dose. Side effects such as a drug induced haze, or possibly far worse. Never alter the prescribed dosage with any drug like these. Normally when a Dr. refers to the maxium dosage, they refer to the max amount of a med that you can take before physical harm to the body becomes a risk. Dont confuse that with adverse and possibly severe side effects that can happen before that dosage is even reached. Dido, for the Cymbalta. I could go on and on trying to make my point, but I hope you are getting it from the answers you are recieving. DONT MESS WITH THIS!
Q: Do you take perphenazine?
That's the generic name...forget what the trade name is.
What do you take it for? What's your dosage?
I feel like I'm the only guy taking this stuff....
A: The trade name is Trilafon® and Etrafon, but these also contain fixed amounts of amitryptaline (an antidepressant). Perphenazine is actually a phenothiazine antipsychotic, which is generally used in the treatment of schizophrenia. I do not take this drug, but I have studied it in the laboratory so I know what it's used for. That's about all the information I can give you.
Q: what is the best antipsychotic drug?I mean which one has the least side effects?
I am suffering from panic attacks associated with depression & my doctor has prescribed zoloft with Thioridazine a week ago he eliminated thioridazine and added perphenazine instead. i hate perphenazine cause it induces akathisia in me now what should i do ?by the way i'm 24 yearsold & male
A: I also suffered from akathisia when I took Perphenazine, I found Prochlorperazine 10mg (two tablets) where much better and they did not cause any side effects.
Everyone respond differently to antipsychotic drugs so you need to find the right one for you.
Q: Can you get high on Triavil?
It is Perphenazine and amitriptyline, can one get a "high" from taking this?
A: High, no. Sick, yes.
Q: Is electro-convulsive therapy for inducing never-ending muscular convulsions?
Why do some people have to experience never-ending muscular convulsions from ECT electro-convulsive therapy combined with neuroleptic drugs like perphenazine? Are they born with a spine problem? Doctors won't answer the question. The Church of Scientology discriminates people who have gotten ECT. Why? Is ECT bad therapy or good medical treatment? What do doctors and the Church of Scientology both know about ECT that they are not telling people? Go to apply for a job at the Church of Scientology in midtown Sacramento California and look carefully at its rules of discrimination. See how weird you might or might not feel. Is it a good church or an evil organization?
A: The church of scientology is a cult and knows nothing about medicine. What you will hear from them is dogma, nothing more.
That said, ECT is barbaric. Some patients experience chronic convulsions, as you describe. More commonly, patients report short-term and long-term memory damage. It is bad therapy. Steer clear of any psychiatric treatment facility that uses it.
Q: taking this new medication, and getting off old?
I was taking Rispidal and depakote for my bi-polar and paxil for anxiety also wellbutrin for depression, yesterday when I got out of hospital doc put me on perphenazine, so now I decided to quit all medication except wellbutrin, and perphenazine. I gain alot of weight on rispidal, depakote, and paxil, but it helped my anxiety. Will perphenazine help with anxiety just like paxil did, because Im scared to go back to being scared in the public.
A: Paxil (paroxetine) is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety, whereas Perphenazine is used to treat psychosis and the manic phases of bipolar disorder. Simply, both of those drugs have different work. So, perphenazil cannot help you to overcome anxiety.
Q: i think i over took my medication?
i am taking perphenazine/amitrptyline 2-10 tablets. i think i took somewhere around 10 of them. normaly my dad gives me the meds, but he is out of town. he gives them to me because i either forget to take them, or take too many. should i be concerned?
A: Consult your physician.
Q: Meds not working for Bipolar??
Hey I have been on tegretol for about 6 weeks now and I don't see much improvement. I'm at a dose of 800 mg. I still have these outbursts of rage and anger with severe depressive states. Does anyone have any idea of what med that I should ask my doctor about. I was told that perphenazine (Trilaphon) Might work well? Do you think Depakote might work if Tegretol is not? But I heard Depakote is very harsh.
A: there are several meds out there to treat this and some are in a class of antipsychotics used to treat bipolar, here are some to ask your dr about. Zyprexa, abilify, seroquel and geodon. If you have insurance i would go to their website and check which ones are on the formulary and they should have a drug calculator so you can see what your copay is before you talk to your dr. I have taken zyprexa and am currently on seroquel and taking lexapro also and for the last two years have been able to have so much better of a quality of life. With this condition we still have good and bad days but finding the right meds and doses sure makes such a difference. Good luck and your on the right track. Take care!
Q: is it possible that some drugs might induce unfavorable results?
2 years ago i was suffering from sever social anxiety disorder.my doctor duplicated the dose of Citalopram( two tab a day) and added 4mg Perphenazine.instead of getting better i experienced pure hell for two weeks i vomitted 7 times a day(unlike perphenazine's natural property) and terrible akathisia was going to kill me.then my new doctor prescribed two tab of Zoloft 50mg & two tab of Thioridazine 10 mg every day, it acted excellent on me till to day. now i'd like to know that perphenazine caused that terrible illness?
A: yes, these are side effects of drugs to many persons when starting the treatement. Sometimes these side effects slow down when your body gets used to.
. Medication can be useful in some situations, but tranquilizes should never be a long term “cure”
Natural cures include behavior management techniques, proper diet and exercise, herbal remedies and yoga techniques. These will actually work towards alleviating your anxiety.
Q: Why should i use antipsychotic drugs in additions to SSRIs?
next week it will be 8 years that i'm using ssri's,1 years prozac+4years cipram +3 years zoloft+1week luvox.since i can remember i have been sufferring from generalized anxiety disorder but during last 1 year i have started cognitive therapy and it's worked great on me.now i'd like two know why should i use drugs like perphenazine that generate akathisia and thus suicuidal thoughts in my head? now i'm using luvox(50 mg) plus thiorhidazine(25 mg)each day.am i crazy?
A: Why don't you seek the advice of an orthomolecular psychiatrist? They use nutrition and supplements to treat mental problems with great results. It's better than taking meds which deplete vitamin stores and when you develop tolerances to them they stop working anyway and you have to take more and more.
Q: What helps with *extreme* anxiety?
I saw my psychiatrist on Monday, and since my anxiety symptoms have been so bad that klonopin hardly helps at all, he prescribed a small dose of perphenazine. He doesn't think I'm psychotic, btw, just thought my anxiety is so severe that a drug meant to ease brain agitation might help.
In the mean time, while waiting for this drug to kick in and see if it helps, I have, you know, life. I'm struggling through what should be an easy paper, but I feel like I'm crawling on glass trying to get it done. I've already overextended the amount of leniency I feel comfortable for asking from my prof. I meditate, I drink peppermint tea, kava tea, take valerian, listen to Beethoven, fight my insomnia/sleep dep with naps, and journal; I pretty much employ every technique I know of to try to ameliorate the anxiety. But it barely helps, and the big question is, how do I not fail this class, keep my job, and meet my social obligations?
I know it's a big question, but I thought there might be some bored shrinks or therapists on here, or, more likely, people who have been through the same thing.
Kisuki: xanax is from the same family of klonopin, so it won't help. they're benzos, and no other form of a benzo is a good idea right now, plus I'm looking for a real time solution, not another discussion with my psych and a new script.
Spunk: ha! thanks for making me smile. You're definitely right about the first one, I've been guilt tripping so badly I haven't given myself time to go the gym in a week. I should probably go this morning and see if it helps. As for the other two, well, I'm sure I'd feel better, but I doubt my paper would be any good, or maybe it would be awesome ;-)
Rocknsweets: thanks, but bathrooms kinda freak me out (I still shower daily!). screaming really doesn't help, but I'll keep listening to beethoven.
floaturboat: I'm so jealous. You live in the UK? The "Uni" part kinda gives that away. Or somewhere European. Yeah, I've never worked at a job where taking off time would be acceptable, I lost my last job because of anxiety. Well, your solutions sound utopian, and I'll keep them in mind when I expat ;-)
Btw, I know a lot of people have anxiety, but I have the type of anxiety/depression that does require medication, or I would be dead. Sorry to be so blunt, but I'm looking for suggestions for someone (myself) who is seriously mentally ill and struggling. If I lived in Canada, the UK, or some civilized place (not usa), I would probably be in a hospital right now. But yeah, now I'm just complaining, sorry.
A: Ok what I do when i have anxiety (I don't take drugs for it) is I take a couple of weeks off work. I know you probably need the money. But if you work part/full time you can get annual leave and I ask for that to be put through for me.
Just tell your manager that you are really struggling at the moment and need time off. They usually understand and don't ask questions. (This way you can keep your job without doing it)
I suggest breathing exercises and if you have a pet dog take it for a long walk. Try and eat healthy as this makes you feel good about yourself. Eat chocolate too. Endorphins make you calm and happy! Go out with your best friend and go have coffee and cake.
Just try and relax and not think about too much. When you have the time try and do your assignments for uni. (Just do an 1 hour a day) The most important thing is your health. Uni, work and social obligations can wait until you feel better. Always try and have a friend around (even to help your with assignment) just so your not stuck with your silly brain telling you stupid things.
I really hope this works for you.
EDIT:
I live in Australia. That sucks about not being able to take time off. I also lost my job ages ago because of my anxiety but it was because I didn't tell anyone. It's always best to speak up and tell someone so people can help. There is always help. I would tell your work just in case so that they know. They might have a solution.
EDIT:
If you want you can send me an email so we can chat so I can make you feel better. :P Talking always helps!
