Q: What is a good international pharmacy school in japan?
What is a good international pharmacy school in japan? or is there any international school in japan that have summer courses? and are credits transferable to other college in USA?

A: The only schools that I know that have a pharmacy school are for native speakers. As far as "summer school" the Japanese semester system is different then the US. The academic years starts in April and goes to August then has a break and goes from October to February. So its hard to take summer classes their. There are several universities in Japan that offer courses and degree in English. I recommend going to your college study abroad office and talk to them. Most courses you would take would transfer over but each university is different I hope this helps!

Q: Are pharmacies in USA different than international pharmacies?
I am moving to New Zealand, but I am unable to find any information on the pharmacies there. I need to know what I need to do to be prepared for the move.

A: Well they're different in that they have different rules and regulations, operate under different authorities, and have different formularies and prices, but your question is kind of vague. If you have a prescription and the money to pay for it, any pharmacy in any country should be able to fill it.

Q: Does anyone know why you do not see international pharmacies?
I have to do a report in a class and my team wants to open a walgreens in thailand. I was noticing that I do not see any pharmacies in other countries and was wondering there is a reason why.

A: Most likely because the pharmaceutical laws in each country may vary wildly, and it would be difficult for a single chain to comply with all laws in all countries. In the US, at least the FDA oversees the manufacture of (legal) drugs, so the pharmaceutical companies must comply with those laws. The individual pharmacies must comply with the states' laws regarding distribution of prescription drugs. For example, say a Nurse Practitioner may prescribe a Schedule II controlled substance (Oxy Contin) in one state, but another state requires that only a doctor may prescribe a Schedule II substance. The pharmacist must know who is allowed to prescribe what. In the US, only certain controlled substances may be dispensed by the pharmacist alone (without a doctor's order), such as a decongestant (Claritin-D) or the morning-after pill (Plan B). All other controlled substances may be dispensed by the pharmacist, only after an order is received from a doctor/nurse practitioner. It would be too difficult to obtain drugs that met each country's quality/manufacturing standards, and the standards of practice for pharmacists may vary widely from country to country. They vary from state to state, but there is still one overarching regulatory body (the FDA) in the US. I would not be cost-effective for one chain pharmacy to tailor its policies and procedures to accommodate each country's drug laws.
